His sci-fi credentials come from titles like The Moon and the Desert and Across an Ocean of Stars — but that’s just his night job. By day, he’s a professor of regenerative medicine, neuroscience, neurology, and biomedical engineering, and it shows in his writing: Mars geography, mission architecture, and bionics research all find their way onto the page, giving his science that lived-in, true-to-life feel.
