The Mission (Should You Choose to Accept It)

FLS-CON is searching for a Discord Moderator/Manager to captain our community Discord server. Think of yourself as the commanding officer of a space station where fans, authors, and creators gather to geek out together. Your mission: keep the peace, foster camaraderie, and make sure everyone has a great time—no airlocks required.

Your Duties (No Red Shirts Required)

Build the World: Set up and maintain channels, roles, permissions, and bots that keep our server running smoother than a well-tuned hyperdrive
Keep the Peace: Monitor conversations, uphold community guidelines, and handle any conflicts with the wisdom of a seasoned diplomat (phasers set to “reasonable”)
Rally the Crew: Welcome new members aboard, spark conversations, and help our community thrive between conventions
Support the Con: Coordinate Discord activities during FLS-CON, from virtual panels to live announcements and everything in between
Write the Lore: Create and maintain server rules, FAQs, and welcome guides so newcomers can find their footing fast
Report to Command: Keep convention leadership in the loop with updates on server happenings, member feedback, and any tribbles that need wrangling

Who We’re Looking For

You know your way around Discord (bonus points if you’ve moderated before)
You communicate clearly and kindly in writing
You stay cool under pressure—even when the shields are down
You love science fiction, fantasy, gaming, or all of the above
You’re available during the convention and the lead-up to launch
